About Taara Dance
At Taara Dance, we practice movement for healing. Our workshops, meditations, choreography, performances, and curriculum center physical, emotional, spiritual and community health.
Styles that greatly influence our offerings include: Bharatanatyam (dasi attam), sabar, Indian folk, Orisha dance, belly dance, dances of Colombia, West African, yoga, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Brazilian, sensual movement, contemporary and more.
In exploring movement, language, and meditation, we practice being aware of and lovingly caring for our selves and our community. Taara Dance supports people of all ages and backgrounds in feeling more connected to their selves, finding agency and advocating for their health.

About Aparna Tara
Hi! I’m Aparna. I’m a multicultural, multilingual artist, educator, and mother, I dance, write, create, choreograph, meditate, and go on tangents. I love learning. I have been teaching, performing and choreographing at studios, festivals, schools and theaters for over twenty years. I have degrees in English, dance, and teaching dance, dance certification K-12 and have completed healing-centered education courses. Arts education has been at the core of my teaching and learning, and has guided me in creating adaptable curriculum. My work centers children and families. I create from the connections between dance, language, pedagogy, culture, body and spirit.
